POPIA notice

Last updated: 28 May 2026

This is our notice under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA). It explains what personal information Now Now Laundry processes, why, and the rights you have. For a fuller narrative, see our Privacy Policy.

1. Responsible party

Now Now Laundry (the responsible party as defined in POPIA) operates this website and the founder waitlist. The registered Information Officer is Allan Perrottet.

Contact: allan.perrottet@decommerce.com
Address: Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa

2. Categories of personal information we process

  • · Mobile phone number (mandatory to join the waitlist)
  • · Email address (optional; only if you redeem the R150 voucher upsell)
  • · Suburb of residence (optional; helps us prioritise launch areas)
  • · Marketing-attribution data (UTM tags, HTTP referrer, referral codes used)
  • · Technical data (IP address, browser user-agent, timestamp) collected for security and abuse prevention

3. Purpose of processing

  • · To notify you when our service goes live in your suburb
  • · To honour and administer the founder offer (R150 voucher, locked-in pricing, free pickup)
  • · To process referral credits owed to you when friends sign up using your link
  • · To measure marketing performance and improve our acquisition channels
  • · To detect, prevent, and respond to fraud and abuse of the waitlist

4. Whether providing the information is voluntary or mandatory

Providing your phone number is mandatory to join the waitlist (it's how we identify you and reach you). Everything else is voluntary. We will not deny you the founder spot if you choose not to provide your email or your suburb.

5. Consequences of not providing information

If you don't give us your phone number, we cannot add you to the waitlist or notify you at launch. If you don't give us your email, you cannot redeem the R150 voucher. There is no other adverse consequence.

6. Recipients of personal information

We share information only with the operators we need to run the service. Each is bound by a written agreement to handle data securely:

  • · Supabase Inc. — database hosting (data stored in Frankfurt, EU)
  • · Vercel Inc. — website hosting (data may transit US and EU servers)
  • · Resend Inc. — transactional email delivery
  • · Cloudflare Inc. — bot-protection (Turnstile)
  • · Meta Platforms Inc. — advertising-attribution analytics via the Meta Pixel (anonymous page-view and conversion events; does not receive your phone number or email)

7. Cross-border transfers

Some of our operators store data in the European Union and the United States. Both regions have recognised data-protection regimes that meet the requirements of POPIA section 72. By submitting the form you consent to your information being transferred for storage and processing in these regions.

8. Retention

We keep your data only as long as we need it. Phone numbers and emails on the waitlist are retained until launch + 24 months, or until you ask us to delete them, whichever comes first. Technical logs are retained for 30 days, then automatically purged.

9. Your rights under POPIA

  • · Request access to the personal information we hold about you
  • · Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information
  • · Request deletion or destruction of your information
  • · Object to the processing of your information
  • · Withdraw consent at any time (does not affect lawful processing already done)
  • · Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator

10. How to exercise your rights

Email the Information Officer at allan.perrottet@decommerce.com with a clear statement of which right you want to exercise. We will acknowledge within 7 days and respond substantively within 30 days. There is no charge for a first request in any 12-month period.
